Yesterday, I watched it again and I have loved it again. But the first time I watched this movie in 1999, I loved it. But also with Pedro Almodóvar style, with bizarre and caricature characters. Of course this movie is based on the style of Quentin Tarantino's movies, with extreme violence. Lots of bullets and amoral situations happen along his hunting. The sadistic detective Inspector Sauveur Cristini (Tchéky Karyo) decides to chases them after a successful heist to a French bank, with a complete failure of the action of the police force. The detective in charge of arresting Dobermann' gang and his team are authentic imbeciles. His gang, composed by his mate Nat (Monica Bellucci) and many freaks guys, robs banks and makes fun of the police force, which is not able to capture them. A Combination of Quentin Tarantino with Pedro Almodóvarĭobermann (Vincent Cassel) is the most wanted bandit in France. Despite that, the movie was pretty successful, subsequently generating two theatrical sequels and one made-for-TV movie.Reviewed by claudio_carvalho 8 / 10 A Great, Amoral and Extremely Violent Cult Movie, With Bizarre Characters. The only thing I question about the movie is how it got a "G" rating, given a couple of (mild, admitedly) love scenes and a couple of *seriously* bloody sequences! Those bloody sequences really shatter the agreeably fluffy and light tone, and make it questionable as a family movie. It's a little dry at times (the low budget doesn't exactly make it flashy), but never does it get really boring. (And - shock of all shocks - it's the Vietnam veteran character who comes across as the most sympathetic!) As well, we are taken through the plan step by step, seeing how they slowly train the dogs and deal with any potential problems that come up during the way. The criminals behind the dogs are not portrayed as buffoons or as totally unredeemable in fact, they are pretty likable guys for the most part. Training 6 doberman dogs to rob a bank? Actually, this outlandish premise is executed with far more believability than you'd think.
